2016 Speak Out Contest

Isabella Perry is the winner of the Cumberland/ North Yarmouth Lions Club Second Annual Speak-Out Competition

The Cumberland/North Yarmouth Lions Club held their second annual Speak-Out Public Speaking Competition on March 14, 2016. The competition was open to any full time Greely High School student. The purpose of the competition is to provide an opportunity for the students to think about important current issues, to organize their thoughts and ideas and to effectively present these ideas publicly.

Three students from Greely High School made five minute individual presentations to a gathering of Lions Club members, students and parents covering a variety of subjects from personal experiences to personal views on societal viewpoints. They were judged on delivery of speech; construction and content; and how they responded to the two follow up questions.

The winners of the Cumberland/ North Yarmouth Lions Club Second Annual Speak-Out Competition are:  First Place: Isabella Perry  who spoke about “The negative effects of technology on youth in today's society, revolving around two main points: impacts on social skills and health."; Second Place: Jared Bard; and Third Place: David Reed.

Isabella Perry will present her winning presentation along with other area winners, at the Lions District Speak-Out Competition later in April. We wish Isabella all the best!
